LUBBOCK, Texas - Members of the Student-Athete Advisory Committee (SAAC) who met for their first time on Monday, Jan. 24, learned of the plans for the spring edition of the event.
"Our generous Red Raider Club donors really enjoyed the first event," said Amy McBride, Assistant Athletics Director/Red Raider Club. "Eventually we hope to be able to reach out to as many donors who contribute to the Red Raider Scholarship Fund as we can."
Student-athletes who are members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will again participated in a two-hour Thank-A-Thon where they called Red Raider Club members who donate annual contributions to the Red Raider Scholarship Fund - the exclusive scholarship fund for Texas Tech Athletics.
"Making these calls tonight to the donors means a lot to me," stated women's golfer Alex Gibson of the event held in the fall. "For them to give out of the kindness of their hearts shows they appreciate all our hard work and we are all grateful for that."
The student-athletes hope to place approximately 500 calls to donors in the two-hour time frame to thank them for all their annual contributions and support.
Red Raider Scholarship Fund donors should know that regardless of their gift amount and/or if they received a call during the next call event, their contributions make a difference in the student-athletes lives.
"I most definitely appreciate the Red Raider Scholarship Fund," football player Brian Duncan said after the last event. "I had the opportunity to succeed not only on the field, but in the community and in the classroom. I will leave Texas Tech with two degrees in marketing and management, and all of the donors' support is allowing me to do so."
