RED RAIDERS ENTER TOP 25 RANKINGS
For the first time in over a decade, Texas Tech is ranked in one of softball's two main polls. The Red Raiders appeared at No. 21 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll and No. 24 in the NFCA/USA Today rankings. Tech's selection in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll is the highest ranking in school history. Tech's last appearance in the top 25 came at No. 24 in the NFCA poll at the conclusion of the 1999 season.
TECH TOPS TWO RANKED TEAMS IN ARIZONA
Heading into the Arizona State Kajikawa Classic, Tech head coach Shanon Hays really didn't know what to expect from his young squad. The Red Raiders ended the week with two wins over ranked opponents in No. 16 BYU and No. 12 Cal en route to a perfect 5-0 record, the only school among the 27 participating to do so. Tech also topped Bradley, Indiana, and Appalachian State last weekend on the way to its best start in school history.
UP NEXT
Texas Tech continues its homestand next weekend with the start of the Jannine McHaney Memorial Classic. The Red Raiders will face St. John's, Northern Illinois, and Wichita State during the three-day event that runs Feb. 25-27 at Rocky Johnson Field.
