LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech women's tennis team won their fourth straight match and their earned their second shutout of the day with a 7-0 victory over UT Pan American Friday evening. The squad returns to the McLeod Tennis Center on Sunday for their 11 a.m. match with Denver.
Texas Tech won each of the three doubles matches over the UTPA Lady Broncos by the same score, 8-0. Sandra Dynka and Lorena Aviles won their No. 3 doubles match over UTPA's Suncica Strkic and Blanca Izaguirre. At No. 2 doubles, Elizabeth Ullathorne and Haley Fournier downed Lady Broncos Wanda Beguelin and Dana Nazarova. Caroline Starck and Nikki Sanders won their No. 1 doubles match over Pan American's Malin Anderson and Reetta Raty.
Texas Tech's Elizabeth Ullathorne downed Wanda Beguelin at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Lorena Aviles won her No. 6 singles match over Lady Bronco Blanca Izaguirre, 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Haley Fournier earned a match point with her 6-2, 6-1, win over UTPA's Reetta Raty. Lady Raider Nikki Sanders followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles over Suncica Strkic. Sophomore Sandra Dynka finished off Dana Nazarova at the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-2. Caroline Starck finished her No. 2 singles match over Malin Anderson, 6-3, 6-3.
The squad returns to the McLeod Tennis Center for their match with the University of Denver Pioneers at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
