Four Red Raiders will travel to Norman, Okla. to represent Texas Tech at the second annual Big 12 Conference Leadership Summit, which takes place June 24-26 at the NCED Conference Center and Hotel. The summit is hosted by the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department.
Sophomore Pearlie Graves (football), junior Markus Henderson (track and field), junior Cydney Allen (softball), and sophomore Haley Fowler (soccer) were nominated to participate in the 2011 Leadership Summit for their spirit, leadership, and commitment to service.
"I am very excited for our student-athletes," states Felicia Martin, Associate Athletic Director at the Marsha Sharp Center. "The Big 12 Leadership Summit will be a great experience for them to develop their leadership skills and network with other student athletes in the conference. Opportunities like these help to shape and grow our student-athletes and make them more aware of their impact on their teams and on campus. "
A committee including Big 12 staff, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Chair and Vice Chair and the host institution selected four nominated individuals from each school in the Big 12 Conference. Final selections embraced the conference's commitment of involving a diverse group of student-athletes who have demonstrated a desire to lead.
