LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech wrapped the Big 12 Women's Golf Championships in sixth place Sunday afternoon, falling one spot after an 11-over 299 final round at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Mo.
The Lady Raiders came into the round in fifth place after taking the opening day lead on Friday. Tech moved up and down the leaderboard during the day, appearing as high as fourth through the front nine before Oklahoma swooped in to beat Tech by a stroke for the fifth place spot.
"I'm very proud of this team," said head coach JoJo Robertson, who has led Tech to consecutive finishes in the upper-half of the conference in her two seasons. "They showed what they are capable of, and we hung in there all day and just came up a few shots short in the end."
Deborah DeVilla earned a spot on the all-tournament team after recording a 2-over 74 final round to finish 1-over and in eighth place overall. The top 10 finish was the first of DeVilla's career.
Gabby Dominguez climbed the leaderboard during the final round to keep the Lady Raiders in contention as the sophomore posted a 2-under card that was highlighted by a birdie on her final hole. The sophomore wrapped the tournament in a tie for 15th overall, marking her seventh-straight event in the top 20.
Kim Kaufman and Alex Gibson completed Tech's card with 7-over and 4-over rounds. Kaufman ended the tournament in a tie for 28th at 10-over, while Gibson finished in a tie for 43rd at 14-over. Tech's remaining player, Hannah Arnold, could not continue her solid play from the first two rounds, finishing 11-over on the day and 17-over for the tournament.
Texas maintained its lead from the day before to take the tournament title at 8-over, while Texas A&M moved to second after a 1-under round that fell three strokes behind the Longhorns. Missouri and Iowa State finished third and fourth, respectively.
The Lady Raiders will find out their postseason fate Monday evening when the NCAA Regional selections are released at 6 p.m. on a conference call.
