LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf program had four student-athletes recently honored on the All-American Scholar Teams that are presented annually by the National Golf Coaches Association.
Sophomore Kim Kaufman led the way for the Lady Raiders, earning her third academic honor this year alone. She was joined on the team by fellow sophomores Deborah DeVilla and Gabby Dominguez along with freshman Hannah Arnold.
The award marked the second of the season for DeVilla and Dominguez, who joined Kaufman as Academic All-Big 12 first team selections. Kaufman was also honored on the Capital One Academic All-District squad in late May. This is the first career award for Arnold.
"This is a great honor for our players, and I am proud of their work not only on the course but also in the classroom," head coach JoJo Robertson said. "This award speaks volumes on how well each of them performed this year as the NGCA requires a higher GPA than most organizations."
Only six Tech student-athletes had been previously named to the NGCA All-Scholar Teams in school history, with Megan Dowdy, Ashley Slavich, and Ulrika Van Niekerk being the most recent recipients in 2006.
To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. A total of 566 women's golfers were honored across the Division I, II, and III levels.
