LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head women's golf coach JoJo Robertson released the program's 2011-12 tournament schedule Wednesday as the Lady Raiders will participate in 10 events leading up to the Big 12 Conference Championships.
The Lady Raiders, who are coming off back-to-back NCAA Regional selections, return four players from last year's lineup while adding depth with the addition of three freshmen.
"We are very excited about our schedule this year," Robertson said. "We will be traveling across the country to compete against the nation's best. With a good mixture of returners and newcomers now on our roster, this schedule should have us prepared for another run to the postseason."
For the fifth-straight year, Tech will begin its season at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, which will be held Sept. 12-13 in Fort Collins, Colo. The Lady Raiders will take the rest of the month off before playing in three tournaments in October, beginning with the Windy City Collegiate in Highland Park, Ill. on Oct. 3-4.
Tech continues its fall campaign at the Suzie Maxwell Berning Classic, Oct. 16-18, in Norman, Okla. and at the UTSA Alamo Invitational, Oct. 30-Nov. 1. The Lady Raiders close the fall at the Texas State Challenge, Nov. 7-8, in the state capital of Austin.
The Lady Raiders open the spring Feb. 12-14 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico before ending the month at the Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ariz. on Feb. 26-17.
Tech will then take several weeks off prior to playing in the Notre Dame Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz. on March 16-18. The Lady Raiders will wrap the month of March less than a week later in Arizona once again as they will compete in Mountain View Collegiate on March 23-24 in Tucson.
The Knights and Pirates Invitational will be Tech's final test prior to the Big 12 Championships as the Lady Raiders will travel to Melbourne, Fla. on April 9-10 for the two-day event.
The Big 12 Championships will be held April 27-29 at the Lawrence Country Club in Lawrence, Kan. where Tech will be looking to better its sixth place finish from a year ago.
If the Lady Raiders were to be selected to an NCAA Regional for a third-straight season, Tech would play May 10-12 at a site to be determined.
