Texas Tech Athletics Communications: What has been different about this year in comparison to previous years?
Finley Ewing IV: The lack of experience. The last couple tournaments we've started three freshmen and almost everyone is new to college golf. We also have three foreigners, so them getting used to school and English and American culture is different.
As an upperclassman, how do you try to help the incoming freshmen new to the team transfer into the college atmosphere?
I've played most of the courses, so giving them my knowledge about the courses we will play is really important. The biggest thing is how they manage their time. Being from other cultures, I don't really know what they are used to but we are pretty strict over here. I try to help them with school, tutoring, practice, and trying to manage their time.
What do you expect for this season?
Everyone's getting a lot more confident. We won our last tournament, so we expect to keep winning and be a force, hopefully, for the Big 12 Championship.
What was it like after winning the UTSA/Oak Hills Invitational?
It was a really big deal. To finally have five people play together really well, come from behind and win like we did was really important for our confidence.
Up next: The Desert Invitational in Palm Springs, California.
It was only a week ago that we won the UTSA Invitational. Everyone is still playing really well, really confident. We've never played in this tournament before and haven't really played much golf in the Southern California area before. We're going in with the attitude that we're going to win.
