THE MONMOUTH SERIES Today's game marked the first all-time between Texas Tech and Monmouth.
Monmouth marks the third first-time opponent for Tech this season, joining Idaho State and Stony Brook.
TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES
The Red Raiders improved to 3-5 on the year when trailing after three innings.
Monmouth's 11 hits in the game marked the second-most for a Tech opponent this season, one shy of the 12 Texas put up in the series opener March 6.
The win marked the second time this year Tech had won when being out-hit by its opponent. The Red Raiders are now 2-7 in such games.
The win was Tech's 11th-straight over non-conference opponents. The Red Raiders' last non-conference loss came to Texas State Feb. 26 in Waco.
Melisa Ryba
Ryba connected on her second home run of the season and her first since the season opener Feb. 9 against San Diego State. That home run came in her first career at-bat as a Red Raiders.
The junior had previously missed the past 14 games as her last appearance came against UTEP on Feb. 25.
The three RBI mark a season-high, surpassing her previous mark of two from the San Diego State game.
Brittany Talley
Talley picked up her third win of the week after giving up two runs over the first 5.1 innings.
She has now surrendered two or less run in eight of 10 starts this season.
Her 10 hits allowed marked a season high and were one shy of her career high.
Cara Custer
Custer picked up her second save of the season and second this week after tossing the final 1.2 innings in relief.
The save was the second for Custer this week as she is the only Tech player to record a save this season.
