LUBBOCK, Texas - Gabby Dominguez and Kim Kaufman both finished inside the top 10 to lead 29th-ranked Texas Tech to a fourth-place finish Sunday at the Notre Dame Clover Cup held at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
Dominguez finished in a tie for sixth overall after firing a 5-over 77 during the final 18 holes. She finished 4-over for the tournament, nine strokes back of tournament medalist Jessica Wallace of Colorado.
Kaufman, meanwhile, rebounded from a tough second round to post Tech's lowest score of the day. She finished even over the final round, leaving her 6-over for the tournament and in sole possession of 10th overall.
It was Dominguez' team-leading sixth top-10 finish this year and the fifth for Kaufman, who was able to continue her season-long streak of finishing inside the top 20. Dominguez has finished sixth or better in each of her last four tournaments.
Their performance helped Tech move out of a three-way tie for fifth to start the day and eventually move up the leaderboard late in the round. The Lady Raiders fired a 17-over 305 final round to move to 40-over for the tournament, one stroke better than fifth-place Notre Dame.
Hannah Arnold and Elin Arvidsson completed Tech's final card with 5-over and 7-over rounds. Arnold finished in a tie for 33rd while Arvidsson was in a tie for 37th overall.
Tech's lone remaining player in the lineup, Deborah DeVilla, finished 8-over to finish 21-over for the tournament. Beverly Mendoza, who was playing as an individual, shot 7-over to finish just outside the top 20 in 25th place at 12-over-par.
Colorado maintained its first-day lead for the second-straight day to take the tournament title at 9-under, the only under-par final card in the 12-team field. Oklahoma finished second at 22-over with Tulsa six strokes back in third.
The final round was played on a windy, rainy day where play was briefly halted this afternoon due to weather concerns.
The Lady Raiders will have less than a week off before returning to the desert once again for the MountainView Collegiate held in Tucson, Ariz. Tech opens the two-day tournament Friday.
