The game was the ninth all-time between Tech and UT-Arlington with the Red Raiders now controlling a 5-4 advantage in the series.
With the win, Tech is now 2-1 this year in two-run games and 12-2 when scoring before its opponent.
The Red Raider defense did not commit an error for the third-straight game. Tech has currently gone 28.0 straight innings without recording an error as its last miscue came to the leadoff hitter against Stephen F. Austin Feb. 25.
Tech is now 7-1 when leading after the first inning. Tech is also 6-2 now this year when it scores in the opening frame as well.
Cara Custer tossed her third shutout of the season in her sixth complete game to this point as well. The freshman gave up five hits and only one walk, Tech's only base on balls during its two games Friday.
Custer picked up her Big 12-leading eighth victory as she also matched her season high with seven strikeouts in the game.
Mikey Kenney led off the game with a home run for the second time this season. Kenney's homer was also her second of the day and team-leading fifth of the season.
Kenney finished 3-for-3 at the plate in the game for her second multiple-hit game of the season. She wrapped the day with a 4-for-7 performance at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored.
Her performance marked the second time this year a Tech player had homored twice in the same day against two separate opponents. Adriana Perez previously accomplished the feat Feb. 19 against DePaul and Utah State.
Kenney's home run marked the 24th of her career, moving her to second all-time in the school record book after passing Paula Workman (1997-2000) who had 23 career dingers. Kenney now needs just three home runs to tie Kim Martinez (1997, 99) for first all-time.
Logan Hall also added her first multiple-hit game of the season as she finished 2-for-3 with a RBI. Hall also had a solid day at the plate as she was 3-for-6 combined over two games.
