Texas Tech's nationally acclaimed The Rawls Course garnered another honor last week as the facility was named the top course in the state of Texas according to GolfAdvisor.
The award marks yet another in the long line of accolades the course has received over the last decade.
The Rawls Course took the top ranking by edging out The Palmer Course at Westin La Cantera Resort in San Antonio. The Links at Land's End in Yantis ranked third while Wilderness Golf Course in Lake Jackson and Palmilla Beach Golf Club in Port Aransas rounded out the top five.
Home to the Texas Tech men's and women's golf programs, the course will host an NCAA Men's Regional in 2015 (May 14-16) and an NCAA Women's Regional in 2017.
Developed by architect Tom Doak, The Rawls Course has been honored by multiple golf publications as one of the country's top collegiate course since its creation in 2003. Both Turfnet Magazine and Golf Magazine have included the course among its top-five college courses in recent years as well.
The course is named after Texas Tech alumnus Jerry S. Rawls, who generously donated the majority of the funding needing to make the facility one of the top courses in the nation. Rawls is also the namesake for the Texas Tech's Rawls College of Business.
