Men's Golf Tied For Fifth After Round One

No. 18 Texas Tech fired an 8-under, 280 in the first round of the 24th Annual Amer Ari Invitational that led to a four-way tie for fifth place.
The Red Raiders are just four strokes back of tournament leader USC with the second round of tournament play scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. (CT) on Friday morning.
Texas Tech was led by seniors Clement Sordet and Matias Dominguez, who are currently tied for 12th place on the individual leaderboard. Sordet and Dominguez both stand at 3-under, 69 and are part of a 12-way tie for 12th.
True freshman Wes Artac is right behind Sordet and Dominguez at 2-under, 70 and in a tie for 24th overall. Artac birdied three of the final four holes in the first round to help Texas Tech secure a tie for fifth place as a team.

- In the first round, the Red Raiders scored 11-under on par 5 holes, giving Texas Tech the third-lowest par 5 scoring.
- The Red Raiders combined for a total of 21 birdies, the second most in round one of the tournament.
- Dominguez had the second-lowest par 5 scoring average for round one of the tournament at 4.00. Artac followed closely with a par 5 scoring average of 4.25.
- Sordet and Dominguez had the third-lowest par 4 scoring average for round one of the tournament at 3.90.
- Hannes Ronneblad had the second-lowest par 3 scoring average over the 18-hole course at 2.75.
- Dominguez leads the tournament field with seven birdies after round one.
