CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Texas Tech women's golf team begins its defense of its 2014 title on Monday in the first round of the 2015 Briar's Creek Invitational at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek.
The No. 44 Lady Raiders will be joined by No. 29 Florida, No. 35 Kent State, No. 38 Miami, No. 41 Coastal Carolina, host and No. 54 College of Charleston, Boston College, Campbell, Chatanooga, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, Penn State and South Florida.
Tech won last year's invitational with a tournament-best 2-under par 286 on the final day, led by junior Kimmy Hill's career-best 67. Hill finished fifth individually - one of her three top 10 finishes last spring.
Three members of last year's team - Hill, Elin Arvidsson and Stephanie Bertelsen - will be in South Carolina this week with Bertelsen playing as an individual.
Arvidsson played as an individual in last week's Wildcat Invitational in Arizona, but finished tied for 21st at 6-over along with junior Sarah Brown to earn a spot back in the top five. Brown, Gabby Barker and Lauren Mason will round out Tech's five players for the team score alongside Hill and Arvidsson.
This will be the sixth different lineup used by Tech in eight tournaments since September.
Tech will start the first round on holes six through 10 beginning at 7:45 a.m. CT. The Lady Raiders will hit the course alongside Florida and Kent State.
