Lady Raiders Ranked No. 15 For Second Straight Week

LUBBOCK, Texas - For the second consecutive week and the fourth time in program history Texas Tech is ranked No. 15 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association women's rankings released Tuesday.
Texas Tech was ranked No. 15 for two weeks in April, 2013 and now has earned the same position for the second consecutive week.
The Lady Raiders currently have a half-match lead over No. 8 Baylor for first in the Big 12 Conference. In all, seven Big 12 teams are ranked in the ITA Top 75 - No. 8 Baylor, No. 10 Oklahoma State, No. 15 Texas Tech, No. 19 TCU, No. 31 Texas, No. 39 Oklahoma and No. 72 Kansas.
Texas Tech is now in the conversation to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Championships. The selection committee almost always give the opportunity to host to the nation's Top 16 teams. The Lady Raiders hosted the first and second round in 2013.
Texas Tech began the season ranked No. 31 and the Lady Raiders have climbed 16 spots this season after putting together a 17-4 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the Big 12 Conference.
Individually, Texas Tech has a school-record five different players earning a national ranking, including four in singles. Senior Kenna Kilgo (9-7) is No. 65, sophomore Lynn Kiro (21-9) is No. 70 and freshmen Sarah Dvorak (23-9) and Sabrina Federici (20-4) are No. 107 and No. 124 respectively. Kilgo and freshman Gabriela Talaba (6-4) are ranked No. 50 in doubles.
Overall, Baylor has six players with either a singles or doubles rankings, while Texas Tech is second in the Big 12 with five players ranked.
Texas Tech looks to close out the regular season on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Fort Worth against No. 19 TCU (16-7, 6-2 Big 12). A win over the Horned Frogs would earn Texas Tech a share of its third Big 12 title in the last four seasons.
