LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head coach Adrian Gregory announced Tuesday the signing of junior-college transfer Halie Vance to a financial aid agreement to join the Red Raiders for the 2016 season.
Vance, a native of Tyler, Texas, will join the Red Raiders from Tyler Junior College where she is currently 25-8 this season with a 1.28 earned-run average. She will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2016.
"We are extremely excited to add Halie to our battery," Gregory said. "She has incredible mound presence and will bring depth to our roster. I believe the combo of Halie and Coach (Amanda) Locke will be a deadly one."

Vance will bring a level of experience after already tossing over 200 innings this season where she has struck out 191 batters, averaging over six strikeouts per game. She is among the NJCAA leaders in total wins (25), appearances (40), games started (30), innings pitched (213.0), and ERA (1.28).
The right-hander enrolled at Tyler Junior College after spending her 2013 freshman season at Marshall where she finished 2-3 overall with a 3.81 ERA in 20 appearances, including 11 starts. She recorded one save while throwing a pair of complete-game performances.
Vance signed with Marshall out of Chapel Hill High School where she was a three-year letterwinner on the softball team, earning all-district honors all three seasons. She struck out 228 batters her senior season alone in 147 total innings.
Vance joins a Red Raider softball program that also signed seven high-school prospects this past fall in Mackenzie Davis, Karli Hamilton, Makenzi Harris, Jessica Hartwell, Annelise Oswalt, Kiani Ramsey and Kiana Workman.
