Lady Raiders, Red Raiders introduced for first time to fans during Friday’s event
LUBBOCK, Texas – The 2016-17 Texas Tech Men's and Women's Basketball teams were introduced for the first time in front of 5,000+ fans at the United Supermarkets Arena Friday night during the annual Homecoming and Hoops Pep Rally.

The event opened with a bang as the teams debuted the new United Supermarkets Arena videoboard. The center-hung structure features four video displays, four times the size of the old boards. Players from both teams were introduced before coming to the arena floor where the band and pom squad performed.

After both teams were introduced, Recee' Caldwell and Larryn Brooks teamed up against Aaron Ross and Andrew Sorrells in a three-point contest. Both Caldwell and Brooks dominated their rounds and defeated the men's players, 33-22.

Following the three-point contest, the men's team participated in a dunk contest where Zach Smith repeated as the champion with a between-the-legs dunk to capture 10's from the celebrity judges.

The Texas Tech men's team opens the 2016-17 regular season against Houston Baptist on Friday, November 11, while the Lady Raiders take the court versus North Dakota on Sunday, November 13.
