Four Lady Raiders to Compete in LPGA Qualifier Wednesday

Senior Sarah Brown will be one of four Lady Raiders to compete in Wednesday's LPGA qualifier.

LUBBOCK. Texas -- Four Texas Tech women's golfers will hit the course this week at the Las Colinas Country Club to compete in the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout on Wednesday. Gabby Barker, Sarah Brown, Lauren Mason and Kimmy Hill will all compete in the event.The Volunteers of America High School and College Shootout presented by City Garage provides a unique opportunity for amateur female golfers to compete against the best players in the world through two qualifying shootouts.
The 1st and 2nd place finishers in the High School and College Shootouts will win exemptions into the 2016 Volunteers of America Texas Shootout, April 25 -- May 1.
The "shootout" format of the tournament will consist of two cuts; the first will be made after the second round to the top-70 and ties, and the second cut will be made to the top-50 and ties after the third round on Saturday. In 2015, Amber Wang (Sugar Land, Texas) and Dominique Galloway (Rio Rancho, New Mexico) qualified to compete in the LPGA Texas Shootout after recording scores of 67and 72 in the High School Shootout. In the College Shootout, Maddie McCrary (Oklahoma State) and Marijosse Navarro (Texas A&M) qualified to compete in the Shootout after recording scores of 68 and 73.
