Texas Tech Softball Falls to Boise State 8-4

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech softball fell to Boise State 8-4 in the final game of the 2016 Jeannine McHanney Memorial Classic Sunday at Rocky Johnson Field. .
"We did not do the things we have done for the past three days," said Texas Tech head coach Adrian Gregory. "We were tentative at the plate and we got beat. Boise State played well today."
Brittany Warnecke opened the Red Raider first with a two RBI double and later scored on a throwing error to give Tech an early 3-0 lead.
Boise State answered back in the bottom of the inning scoring on a sacrifice pop up and a solo home run to bring the score to 3-2 at the end of the first frame.
Texas Tech added another run in the second before bringing in Dominique Alcocer to take over in the circle midway through the third inning.
A two run home run by the Broncos in the third tied the game at 4-4 heading to the fourth inning. After three straight scoreless innings for Texas Tech, Boise State would take the lead in the fifth on a two run homer by Teauna Hughes.
Boise added two more runs in the sixth to cap the 8-4 Bronco victory.
The loss dropped Texas Tech to 14-16 on the season including a 4-1 mark this weekend.
Texas Tech will be back in action Thursday afternoon as the Red Raiders will travel to Tempe, Ariz., to face No. 21 Arizona State.
