LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech men's golf team improved on its round one score by three shots on Tuesday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, in Las Vegas, Nev.
The Red Raiders had an up-and-down start to round two. Hurly Long carded a double bogey on 10 and a bogey on 11 to begin his round, setting the tone for what would end up being a very uncharacteristic 83 for the sophomore.

However, Wes Artac dropped birdies on 13, 15 and 16, on his way to a bogey-free 33 on the first nine. Despite his performance, the Red Raiders were 5-over as a team through nine holes.
Tech was able to steady itself on the final nine, as Hannes Ronneblad (E), Ivan Ramirez (E) and Federico Zucchetti scored par or better on holes 1-9, helping the Red Raiders to a 2-over total on the final nine and a 6-over 294 on the day, three strokes better than Monday's opening round. Tech enters tomorrow's final round in 11th place as a team.
"I thought we played really well in spots today, especially Wes Artac, bouncing back the way he did from a tough round yesterday," Texas Tech head coach Greg Sands said. "We're looking forward to getting back at it tomorrow. Getting to play this great golf course will do so much for us moving forward."
Individually, Zucchetti's 2-over 74 today, paired with yesterday's 2-under 70, has him at even-par for the tournament and in a tie for 12th place.
The Red Raiders will tee off their final round at the par-72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club at 10:20 a.m. CT., paired with Alabama and host UNLV. Live scoring will be provided by Golfstat.
