SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Texas Tech women's golf team shot a 7-over 295 in Saturday's second round of the Big 12 Championships, and remains in a tie for sixth place overall.Tech was a combined even par on the front nine and looked poised to make a move on the leaderboard before combining for 11 bogeys and a double bogey on the back nine, slipping to 7-over on the day and 15-over for the championship, 17 shots off the lead.
"I think we had some putts not fall today that we would have liked to see go in," Texas Tech head coach JoJo Robertson said. "I think we played decent and we got off to a good start. We played 10 or 12 good holes and got sloppy at the end. If we can play good 18 holes tomorrow we will be fine."
The Lady Raiders continue to be led by Gabby Barker, who is even-par for the tournament and tied for ninth overall after her 1-under 71 on Saturday. She shot a 37 on the front nine before birdieing 15 and 18 to close out a 2-under 34 on the back nine.
Barker is one of 11 players sitting at even par or better for the tournament. Each of the other four Lady Raiders are currently in the top 30, as Sarah Brown (+5) is in 26th, and Lauren Mason, Mami Yamamoto and Kimmy Hill are all tied for 29th at 6-over.
The Lady Raiders will begin tomorrow's final round at 8 a.m., paired with TCU and Kansas State.
