Lady Raiders in Fourth at Red Raider Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech Lady Raider golf team closed the first day of competition at the Red Raider Invitational in fourth place with a combined score of 580 (four over) on Friday at the Rawls Golf Course.Tech completed round one at 287 (one under), and shot a 293 (five over) in round two. Tech finished three strokes behind Kansas (one over) and sit four strokes behind No. 41 Purdue who finished day one with a combined 576 (even).
"We were really pleased with the way we played this morning, I think it was one of our best team scores we've had," said Texas Tech head women's golf coach JoJo Robertson. "We've got a little work to do tomorrow, we're four shots back, but it's nothing our team can't handle, so we are looking forward to it."
Atop the leaderboard for the Lady Raiders are Sarah Brown and No. 23 Gabby Barker, who are tied for third and fifth. Brown carded 142 (two under) for the first two rounds, and Barker put in 143 (one under) for the day. Mami Yamamoto also carded 148 (four over) after day one, joined by teammates Kimmy Hill and Lauren Mason, who shot 149 and 150 on day one.
The Lady Raiders will tee off for round three tomorrow morning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Live stats will be provided on golfstat.com.
