Lady Raiders Set For NCAA Stanford Regional

LUBBOCK. Texas - Texas Tech women's golf will play in its sixth regional in seven years when the Lady Raiders tee-off Thursday Morning at the NCAA Stanford Regional held at the Stanford Country Club."We are very excited to be a part of the Regionals again this year," Texas Tech coach JoJo Robertson said. "I think going to Stanford is a great opportunity for us. I is going to be tough and it is a great golf course. I think trying something different, going out to the West Coast will be a good thing for us."
The No. 25 Lady Raiders, the No. 7 seed at their respective regional site, are playing in their 16th regional overall and will join Southern California, Arkansas, Stanford, Virginia, UNLV, San Diego State, Ohio State, Colorado, Wake Forest, Michigan State, North Carolina, Pepperdine, San Jose State, UC-Riverside, Idaho, Richmond and Seton Hall this weekend at Stanford.
The top six teams from each regional will qualify for the NCAA Championships that will be held in Eugene, Ore., at the Eugene Country Club May 20-25.
Tech finished the 2016 regular season with nine top-10 finishes, including six top-five finishes. The Lady Raiders were paced by the 2016 Big 12 Golfer of the Year, Gabby Barker who will enter NCAA postseason play with a 72.07 stroke average.
Tech last played in the 2015 NCAA Central Regional in San Antonio where the Lady Raiders finished fifth out of 18 teams. Tech built on their strong Regional start to advance to the 2015 NCAA Championship at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. where the Lady Raiders finished in a tie for fifth nationally.
