Lady Raider Signee Sofia Garcia Ready for European Amateur Championship

Garcia, fresh off a seventh place finish at the Dutch Junior Open, will compete in the European Championship July 20-23.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Sofia Garcia will cap a busy week by competing in the 2016 European Ladies Amateur Championship at the Hooks Golf Course in Hok, Sweden on July 20-23.

Garcia, a native of Asuncion, Paraguay, signed with the Lady Raiders in mid November and has been on a tear recently picking up top-10 finishes in at least two major events since her signing with Texas Tech.

Most recently, Garcia finished seventh at the prestigious 2016 OK Dutch Junior Open that concluded on July 16th. Garcia shot a four-day total of 302 to finish 18 strokes back of 2016 champion Zhen Bontan. Garcia struggled early in the event shooting a first-round 80, before rebounding to card round scores of 75, 73 and 74 to end the event.

Garcia will look to build on the momentum she built through the Dutch Open as she begins play at the European Championship on Wednesday afternoon. The European Open Amateur Championship will feature four rounds of stroke play including a field of 144 players.
