Women's Tennis Earns Highest ITA Preseason Ranking

Texas Tech opens 2017 season at No. 13, 30th straight poll ranked inside the Top 25
TEMPE, Ariz. – Texas Tech Women's Tennis earned its highest Oracle/ITA Division I ranking in school history to open the 2017 season.

The Lady Raiders will enter the season at No. 13, marking the 30th straight poll ranked inside the ITA Top 25 dating back to Feb. 17, 2015.

Junior Gabriela Talaba leads the team ranked No. 26 in singles, also the highest ITA ranking for an individual in school history. Talaba ended the 2015-16 season at No. 78 and was ranked No. 56 in the preseason rankings.

Sophomore Felicity Maltby moved up 25 spots to No. 81 in the first rankings of the season. She was ranked No. 106 in the preseason ITA rankings.

Doubles team of Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici earned a Top 15 (No. 14) ranking to start the 2017 season. The duo advanced to the finals of the ITA Texas Regional Championships in the fall.

The Lady Raiders begin the 2017 season in Miami, Fla., for the Miami Spring Invitational on Jan. 20-22.
