Lady Raiders Drop Into Eighth Place in Puerto Rico

Gabby Barker moved into a tie for second individually following a 2-under 70 on Monday
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's golf program dropped into a tie for eighth place Monday morning following the second round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic held at the Rio Mar Country Club.

The Lady Raiders, who remain in contention despite a 13-over-par 301 second round, are tied with Baylor at 17-over for the tournament, one stroke back of Georgia, N.C. State and Michigan in fifth and then two swings behind fourth-place Arkansas and three back of third-place TCU.

"We let some shots get away at the end that we'd like to have back," Tech head coach JoJo Robertson said. "We are still in a good spot for tomorrow's final round. We just need to show up and be ready to play."

Furman leads the 15-team field at 7-over for the tournament followed by Kent State in second at 10-over. Tech controls a 12-stroke advantage over LSU which is in 10th place at 29-over-par.

Gabby Barker led the Lady Raiders for a second-straight day as she finished 2-under 70 to move into a tie for second individually. Barker, who is three strokes back of tournament leader Haylee Harford of Furman, recorded three birdies on the round along with a key eagle at the par-5 11th hole.

Emma Ballard posted Tech's next-lowest round with a 3-over card that moved the sophomore into a tie for 32nd place at 6-over for the tournament. Sofia Garcia rebound from a 6-over round on Sunday to shoot two shots better Monday, moving the freshman into a tie for 53rd overall.

Lauren Mason and Mami Yamamoto both chipped in 8-over rounds to complete Tech's card. Mason is now in 44th place individually at 8-over four the tournament while Yamamoto is one stroke back now in a tie for 45th overall.
