Lady Raiders add transfer from Florida State
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Women's Tennis has added transfer Lana Rush to the 2017 singing class, Head Coach Todd Petty announced Friday afternoon.
Rush, a London, England, native, comes to Lubbock after playing two seasons at Florida State.
"We are super excited to have Lana join our family. She was one of the best juniors in the world and will be a true asset for us," Petty said. "We really wanted her before she headed to Florida State and are excited she will end her career as a Red Raider."
During the 2015-16 season, Rush went 9-11 in spring singles play. She won three consecutive matches at the Clay Court Invitational at Walt Disney World during the fall season, reaching the quarterfinals.
In her freshman season, she posted a 6-7 record and was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll. In her first fall collegiate season, Rush finished 6-4 in singles action.
Rush won eight national championships in singles and doubles across various age groups (u10, u12, 14, 16 and 18) prior to arriving at Florida State.
She ranked No. 1 in the Great Britain from age 10-16 and played at Wimbledon in 2012 and 2013. Rush won seven doubles titles in 2013, including six ITF Championships.
Rush represented Great Britain from 10-17 years old including at the Junior Fed Cups while competing at the No. 1 position in the U14 (2011) and U16 (2013) divisions. She became the youngest girl to be invited to train at the National Tennis Centre (ages 13-17).
