Women’s Tennis Earns Another Top 15 Ranking

Gabriela Talaba moves up to Top 15 in ITA rankings
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Texas Tech Women's Tennis team earned a spot on the inaugural USTA College Tennis Top 25 team rankings, the organization announced Wednesday morning.
The Lady Raiders rank 14th in the country after a 3-1 start in the 2017 spring season. Texas Tech also earned a No. 12 ranking in the last Oracle/ITA Division I national ranking (Feb. 1).
Junior Gabriela Talaba moved up to No. 15 in the latest Oracle/ITA Division I rankings. She opened the season with wins over two Top 15 opponents during the Miami Spring Invitational (Jan. 20-22). Talaba led the Lady Raiders to wins over No. 21 Arizona State during the ITA Kickoff Weekend and claimed another win over a ranked opponent.
Sophomore Felicity Maltby dropped to No. 116 in the country. She has posted a 3-2 record this season with 1-2 against ranked opponents.
Doubles duo Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici dropped to No. 23 in the ITA rankings. The two are 5-1 on the season and have two wins over nationally ranked opponents including against No. 36 Anderson and Slaysman of Arizona State and No. 33 Baker and Yamada of UC Santa Barbara.
The women's tennis team returns to action this weekend at the ITA Division I National Indoor Championship in New Haven, Conn. Tech is set to face No. 9 Vanderbilt on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
