LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 26 Texas Tech bounced back from a difficult start to the Silverado Showdown with an even-par 288 second round Monday that moved the Lady Raiders into 11th place at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, California.
Â
The Lady Raiders, who entered the day in 15th place following a 15-over-par opening round, steadily moved up the leaderboard throughout the morning as Tech is now just three strokes out of seventh place and two back of ninth entering Tuesday's third and final round.
Â
"The team played great today," Tech head coach JoJo Robertson said. "It was a great recovery from yesterday. We'll look for one more good round tomorrow and see if we can continue to move up the leaderboard."
Â
Mami Yamamoto powered the Lady Raiders with a 2-under 70 card that moved her into a tie for 42nd overall at 5-over for the tournament. The sophomore notched a birdie on four of her first six holes on the day to shoot 1-under over the front nine before adding another birdie to start the back nine. She pared each of the final eight holes to match her second-lowest round of the season.
Â
Cara Barker recorded an under-par score of her own with a 1-under 71 round that placed her in a tie for 31st individually alongside Sofia Garcia, who had a 2-over card Monday thanks in part to an eagle at the par-5 fifth hole. The duo has Tech's lowest two cards for the tournament at 3-over-par.
Â
Lauren Mason chipped in Tech's final score with a 1-over card that pushed her a stroke back of Yamamoto on the leaderboard as she ended the day in a tie for 48th overall. Gabby Barker, meanwhile, put together a 3-over card that moved her into a tie for 59th individually.

Tournament host Colorado is in third at 1-over while Northwestern ranks fourth at 5-over and California and Iowa State are in a tie for fifth at 7-over heading into Tuesday's final round.
