A packed house… that is what we need!
We are just halfway through our seven game home stand and could not be more thankful for our fan support. This past weekend we faced Kansas at the Rock. Although falling short the first two games, we found our passion and trusted our skills to come up with a huge win on Sunday.
Walking into the facility Sunday morning was different, but a good kind of different. The energy was so high, the team was loose and light and everyone was just feeling good. I could tell at 9 a.m. that we were going to walk out of the facility later that day with a W. From blasting High School Musical's "We're All In This Together" during BP, to a pregame pep talk that ended with a mic drop (water bottle), we were ready to play ball.
The best thing about playing at the Rock is getting the opportunity to play in front of all the fans who support us. For the game on Sunday, the stands were filled! Full of family, friends, locals, and the South Plains Girls Fast Pitch league. The fans were loud, the adrenaline was high, and we came out with the W at the end of the game. We were then fortunate enough to be able to host the opening ceremonies for the SPGF. This gave all the young girls the opportunity to walk on the field, clap our hands and get some autographs. Seeing the smiles on their faces and the amount of excitement they had when they met us was incredible. We truly appreciate everyone who comes out to support us, and hope that everyone can make their way back to Rocky Johnson Field this weekend as we take on our rival.
With Texas coming into our place this Thursday we NEED to pack the house. Two years ago we had the largest crowd ever at Rocky Johnson Field, and Texas happened to be our opponent. The fan support that weekend was unreal! We ended up winning the series 2-1 that weekend for our first series win over UT in program history, and I truly believe the fan support we had was a huge part of our success. Playing in front of a crowd with high energy and nothing but support is such a great feeling as a player. We hope to take another series from Texas this year and would love it if we had a packed house to do it in front of. So Lubbock what do you say? Come out to the Rock this weekend and help us take a series!
