Busy Weekend on Tap for Texas Tech Athletics

Full slate of games include Big 12 contests for baseball, softball as well as men’s and women’s tennis
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech fans around Lubbock will have plenty of options to support the Red Raiders this weekend, headlined by the "Saturday Night Lights" scrimmage inside Jones AT&T Stadium.

In addition to the open scrimmage, the Red Raider baseball, softball, women's tennis and men's tennis programs will all host Big 12 opponents at home this weekend. The Texas Tech Ticket Office will also hold its annual "Select Your Seat" event inside Jones AT&T Stadium prior to the start of the 7 p.m. scrimmage.

Admission is free to all Texas Tech tennis matches while tickets to see the Red Raider softball team can be purchased at the Rocky Johnson Field gate on gameday. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets to see the Red Raider baseball team on either Friday or Sunday in advance by going online or by calling 806-742-TECH. Saturday's game is officially sold out.

Here's a full rundown of this weekend's schedule:

- The No. 6 Texas Tech baseball program opens its home Big 12 slate against No. 29 Baylor this weekend at Rip Griffin Park. The series gets underway with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch Friday evening followed by 2 p.m. starts on both Saturday and Sunday.
- The Red Raider softball team welcomes Kansas to Rocky Johnson Field this weekend for a similar three-game series that begins with a 6 p.m. first pitch on Friday evening. Tech will also host the Jayhawks at 4 p.m. Saturday and then noon on Sunday.
- Todd Petty's No. 5 women's tennis program will have a chance to clinch a share of its third Big 12 regular-season title this weekend when the Lady Raiders host Iowa State at 3 p.m. Friday and then West Virginia at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. A victory over Iowa State would give Tech an opportunity to clinch a share of the regular-season crown with a win against West Virginia. Both matches will be played at the McLeod Tennis Center.
- The men's tennis team will also be in action at the McLeod Tennis Center as the Red Raiders begin Big 12 play at 5:30 p.m. Friday evening against No. 8 Oklahoma State before facing No. 16 Oklahoma at 3 p.m. Sunday.
- The Texas Tech Ticket Office will host its annual "Select Your Seat" event prior to Saturday's scrimmage inside Jones AT&T Stadium. Gates 1 and 6 will open at 4 p.m. for fans wishing to personally pick out a season ticket location for the 2017 season.
- The Red Raider football program will decide the winner of its Spring Series at 7 p.m. Saturday evening as the offense and defense will battle in their final scrimmage of the spring. The scrimmage is free to all fans and will conclude with a postgame fireworks show as well as an hour-long autograph session with the Red Raiders and head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Music will be provided postgame by Caldwell Entertainment.
