Women’s Tennis 2018 Recruiting Class Ranked

Lady Raiders add four to the roster for the 2018-19 season
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Women's Tennis 2018 recruiting class earned a spot in the Top 25 ranking, TennisRecruiting.net announced Monday morning.
The future Lady Raiders received five first-place votes as a recruiting class and a No. 2 overall ranking.
"We are really excited for this next chapter of Red Raiders," Head Coach Todd Petty said. "They embody all the qualities that have made this program successful and will continue to raise the bar. I want to give a special thanks to Coach Saia, he worked extremely hard to help put this class together."
Petty announced the signing of Sydney Jones, Nell Miller, Olivia Peet and Denise-Antonela Stoica as part of the NCAA fall signing period.
Jones, a native of Carrollton, Texas, is a 5-star recruit and was a Top 5 player in the state of Texas. She reached as high as No. 18 nationally in the Class of 2018. Jones posted a perfect 3-0 record at the USTA National Team Championships and earned wins at the USTA Nationals. She also was the San Antonio SCMZ Tournament Champion.
Miller comes to Lubbock from Kent, England. She is a nationally ranked Top 15 player in England. Highlighting her career is a runner-up finish at the Aegon Britich Tour Tipton Tournament title and taking the WTA No. 219 ranked Ana Guilia Remondina to three sets in singles play.
A native of Manchester, England, Peet ranks in the Top 10 nationally in England. Her career is highlighted by her victory over No. 665 WTA ranked Sarah Beth Grey on the Aegon British Tour and her Championship in the Felixtow Tournament.
Stoica hails from Romania, but trains in Barcelona, Spain. She ranks in the Top 1000 players in the WTA and has reached as high as 279 in ITF Juniors. While ranked No. 2 in the Romanian Junior Rankings, Stoica worked her way to the 2017 Romanian Junior Cup Championship and the ITF Oslo Runner-Up title.
Oklahoma is the only other Big 12 team ranked by TennisRecruiting.net. The Sooners signed the No. 6 ranked team in the country for the 2018 class.

The Lady Raiders travel to Madison, Wis., for the ITA Indoor National Championships this weekend. The team earned one of the 16 spots after sweeping Saint Mary's (CA) and Wichita State during the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
