Red Raider Golf Moves Into Nation's Top Five

Nilehn jumps to No. 3 on the individual side

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's golf team vaulted into the top five of the Golfstat NCAA Team Rankings on Wednesday, moving into the No. 5 slot.

This ranking hits after the Red Raiders earned their sixth second-place finish of the season at the Lamkin San Diego Classic, where they were as low as 14th on the leaderboard before crawling back into the fray late.

This is the second-straight season in which Tech has cracked the top five, with last year's occurrence coming on Feb. 8, 2017. Tech's highest Golfstat ranking in school history is No. 4, in 2014.

Individually, Fredrik Nilehn moved up to No. 3 in the Golfstat player rankings, after collecting his second individual title of the season in San Diego. He has not finished outside of the top 15 at any event this season.

The Red Raiders will return to action April 7-8, at the Aggie Invitational, in Bryan, Texas.
