Red Raiders Jump to No. 4 in Golfweek Coaches Poll

LUBBOCK, Texas – After starting the season with three wins, Texas Tech is up to No. 4 in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll after beginning the year at No. 18 in the rankings.
The Red Raiders will play at the Tavistock Collegiate next week for their final tournament of the fall after opening with victories at The Carmel Cup, the Iverness Intercollegiate and the Big 12 Match Play Tournament. Along with the ranking that comes from votes from coaches, Tech is currently rated No. 2 in the official Golfstat ratings. The team was ranked No. 6 in the previous poll before winning the Big 12 Match Play last week by going 5-0 against conference competition.Â
Tech received four first-place votes in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, the most of any program outside of Georgia Tech which is the top-ranked team in the nation with 19 first-place votes. The Yellow Jackets rose to the top spot after being ranked No. 2 last week. They are followed by Wake Forest, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Pepperdine in the top-5.
Texas Tech will compete at the Isleworth Country Club in Orlando, Florida against a 15-team field that includes No. 7 Arizona State, No. 18 Texas, No. 19 Auburn and No. 23 Vanderbilt. BYU, previously not listed in the top 25, jumped to No. 6 this week. Arizona State, SMU and Notre Dame landed at Nos. 7-9 while Duke and Louisville tied for 10th.
