The Player's Journal: Belief

Here we are already in week three of the season! I have been through this enough to know that the next three months are going to fly by, but the last two weeks of games have been nothing short of memorable. We have a perfect 10-0 record, a no-hitter, back-to-back Big 12 player of the week honors, and most importantly, we are ranked in the top 25 going into one of the biggest tournaments of the year! Are you kidding me?!
Â
All of this success isn't surprising to me though. The way that my coaches and teammates have trained and believed in what we are doing from day one have led to this exact moment. One word that every one of us buys into every day is belief. You have probably heard that word around our program if you have been keeping up with us lately, but it is so much more to us than just a word. This belief translates over into every part of our program. We have learned as a group to find belief in our coaches, the teammate next to us, ourselves, and most importantly, who God says we are. This team really just loves each other. Plain and simple. When we have a foundation in love, a bold conviction in who we are and where we are going, big things happen.
Â
We are traveling to Palm Springs, Calif., today for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic and there is so much excitement in the air! This is such a crucial week for us as we attack the six challenging games that lie ahead, but I would not want to take the field with any other group. We have been on a mission every inning and have already learned some lessons along the way. I will continue to expect this unwavering belief out of us every game and hope that we continue to enjoy every moment.
Â
The start to this season is the result of the years of a faithful pursuit from Coach G and her incredible staff, as well as all of the teammates that have left their mark on this program. I feel so blessed to have spent my four years with such an incredible group of people. I firmly believe that this program will continue to grow so many powerful young women. Here's to pursuing joy in my last ride and for many more W's to come.
