The Player's Journal: The Wait is Over
February 07, 2019 | Softball

The countdown is over! I have been watching the softball community countdown the days for what feels like an eternity, but alas it's here! Softball season is back and there's no better way to start it off than back at home sweet home!

I am beyond excited to start off my sophomore season with a tournament in Houston. Along with my fellow Houstonians on the team, I am so happy to have friends and family in the stands cheering me on. Playing on the fields that I grew up with brings back old memories, but I'm ready to make new memories with our team!
Â
We've been lucky enough to practice outside on the field all fall, even in some tough weather. I am confident that it prepared us physically and mentally for the unpredictable conditions that this weekend, and future competitions, could bring. Our fall, just like the weather in Lubbock, was tough. Every single day, our goal was to never get outworked – I definitely think we achieved that goal. When we reported this spring, we immediately got back to work by pushing ourselves with the conditioning test and immediately going into two-a-days.
Â
The coaching staff did an outstanding job of preparing us for the teams and energy we will be up against. Our freshman are eager to start their first collegiate season and finally get that feeling that season brings! The sophomores and juniors have experience under our belts and we're ready to help our team and seniors go out on the 2019 season with a bang!
Â
It's time to BURN AND CONQUER!
