Red Raiders Take 36-Hole Lead in Georgia

Women's golf is six shots ahead of second place heading into the final round
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Texas Tech women's golf team shot a combined 14-under to take a six shot lead following the first two rounds of the 2019 Valspar Augusta Invitational.
The Red Raiders were led by sophomore Amy Taylor, who shot a career-low 66 in round one. Taylor carded nine birdies and seven pars in the first 18 holes of play. Taylor is currently tied for first place on the individual leaderboard.
Tech also benefitted from the play of Louisa Brunt, who continued her consistent start to the spring by going 1-under in her first round.
The Red Raiders, who held the 18-hole lead, continued to go low in round two, as sophomore Sofia Garcia collected seven birdies and 10 pars en route to second-round 66 less than a week after her program-best 64 in Utah.
Senior Mami Yamamoto also put together a solid second round, as she carded four birdies and finished her day at 1-under.
Anna Dong fired off a first round score of 1-under before ultimately completing her day at even par. Ceclie Nielsen, who competed as an individual, finished at 9-over.
The Red Raiders will resume play on Sunday with an 8:00 a.m. CT shotgun start.
