Red Raiders Complete Day One of Lamkin Invitational

Texas Tech finishes two rounds in day one of three-day affair
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Texas Tech women's golf team concluded the first two rounds of the Lamkin Invitational tournament in San Diego, California on Monday.
The tournament, which features six teams ranked in the top-50 of the latest Golfstat poll, began with 18 holes of stroke play in the morning before breaking off into match play in the afternoon.
The Red Raiders, who finished stroke play in fourth place to advance to the main draw, shot a total score of 16-over 304, which was just three strokes shy of third place and four strokes behind second.
Sofia Garcia led the way for the Red Raiders, who carded three birdies en route to a 1-over 73. Louisa Brunt followed closely behind Garcia, as she also broke par three times and completed her round at 2-over.
Senior Mami Yamamoto finished her first round at 5-over, while Amy Taylor and Anna Dong finished at 8-over and 10-over, respectively. Cecilie Nielsen, who competed as an individual, rounded out the morning for the Red Raiders at 7-over.
Following the morning round, Tech would later be matched up with Vanderbilt for the main draw of match play. After battling back and forth with the Commodores, the Red Raiders would ultimately fall in each match, giving Vanderbilt the win.
Tech will be back in action tomorrow to take on UC Irvine in the consolation draw.
