Red Raiders Remain in Seventh at Big 12 Championship

Sofia Garcia fired a 3-over round Tuesday to move into a tie for 14th in Oklahoma
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's golf team remained in seventh place at the Big 12 Championships Monday following a 27-over-par 314 second round at the Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow.
The Red Raiders, who are now 44-over for the tournament, find themselves only six strokes out of fourth place entering Tuesday's third and final round. Eight of the nine teams in the field shot 21-over or higher during Monday's round.
Sofia Garcia paced the Red Raiders, sinking three birdies on the front nine and another on the 18th en route to a 3-over 75 card that pushed her into a tie for 14th place individually. She finished one stroke shy of the lowest round of the day.
Louisa Brunt and Mami Yamamoto chipped in 7-over cards, while Cecilie Nielsen rounded out the Tech card with a 10-over round. Anna Dong was one stroke back of Nielsen to complete the Red Raider lineup.
Texas remains atop the team leaderboard after a strong 9-over second round. The Longhorns are 8-over through 36 holes followed by Baylor at 30-over, Oklahoma State at 33-over, TCU at 38-over, Oklahoma at 39-over and Kansas at 41-over. Tech is three back of Kansas at 44-over for the tournament.
Tech will be paired with Kansas State and Iowa State when play resumes at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Live scoring will be available throughout the final round at Golfstat.com.
