No. 10 Red Raiders to Compete at Aggie Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 10-ranked Texas Tech men's golf team travels to Bryan this weekend where the Red Raiders will compete at the Aggie Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Traditions Club Golf Club.Â
The two-day tournament will have Tech and 12 other teams open with two rounds on Saturday before the final round that starts at 7:30 a.m. on the par-72 course (7,146 yards) that was designed by Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II. Tech will be represented this week by Sandy Scott, Ivan Ramirez, Adam Blomme, Kyle Hogan, Jansen Smith and Markus Braadlie.
Tech will be playing in its second in-state tournament after also competing in the Big 12 Match Play Tournament back in October in Houston. The Red Raiders are competing against host Texas A&M which is ranked No. 27, No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 2 Arizona State, No. 24 Baylor, Kent State, Lamar, No. 12 LSU, Michigan, New Mexico, New Mexico State, North Texas and Washington.
Texas Tech is coming off a second-place finish at the Lake Charles Invitational two weeks ago in Lake Charles, Louisiana led by Sandy Scott who finished as the tournament after shooting 64-65-74 – 203 which was 13-under-par. A junior from Scotland, Scott is currently ranked No. 16 in the nation with a 70.20 scoring average this season and has earned a spot on the Arnold Palmer Cup International Team along with Ramirez. A senior from Colombia, Ramirez is ranked No. 75 nationally while Blomme is at No. 75. Blomme finished at 4-under in the last tournament. Ramirez and Blomme both shot 3-under at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas to finish tied for ninth at the event. Hogan is coming off his best finish of his season after finishing fourth in Louisiana where he shot 70-69-65 – 204 at the Lake Charles three-round tournament.
The Red Raiders will have one more regular-season tournament this season after this weekend at Texas A&M when they travel to play in the El Macero Classic on April 12-14 in El Macero, California. The tournament will lead into the Big 12 Conference Championships on April 26-28 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
