Red Raiders Heading to Myrtle Beach for NCAA Tournament

The No. 10-ranked Red Raiders will be coming off a fifth-place finish at the Big 12 Conference Championship last weekend at The Greenbrier in West Virginia and have recorded tournament wins at the El Macero Classic and Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. Tech has seven top-5 finishes this season, including runner-up showings at the Lake Charles Invitational and Showdown in the Rockies. The Red Raiders will be joined at Myrtle Beach by Wake Forest, Cal, Illinois, Florida State, UNLV, Oregon, Ohio State, Northwestern, Oregon State, Cal State Fullerton, Middle Tennessee, VCU and Robert Morris.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 13-15. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.

Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 24-29 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The University of Arkansas is the host institution for the 2019 championships.Â
Sandy Scott leads the Red Raiders coming into the NCAA tournament after shooting 5-under and finishing fifth overall the Big 12 Championship. A junior from Scotland, Scott has recorded six top-10 showings this season, including winning the El Macero Classic in mid-April after shooting 13-under and finishing as the runner-up at the Lake Charles Invitational. Texas Tech senior Ivan Ramirez is coming off a 17th place result at the Big 12 Championship after finishing as the El Macero Classic. He has four top-10 finishes and along with Scott earned a spot on the Arnold Palmer Cup International Team. Senior Adam Blomme and Jansen Smith tied for 28th at the Big 12 Tournament, while sophomore Kyle Hogan has three top-10 finishes this season. Hogan was fourth at the Lake Charles Invitational and sixth at the El Macero Classic leading into the postseason. Blomme recorded his best tournament result with a runner-up finish at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate by shooting 7-under before taking ninth at the Southern Highlands Collegiate.

The 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships were held at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with Oklahoma State University serving as host. Oklahoma State won the team title, defeating Alabama, 5-0-0 in the final round of match play competition. Augusta University's Broc Everett and Auburn's Brandon Mancheno finished with a four-day total of 281, 7-under par, setting a course record. In the first playoff hole, Everett claimed the individual title.
