No. 15 Red Raiders’ Final Day at Big 12 Championship Canceled

The Red Raiders went 1-1 at the 2019 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Due to an abundance of rain and questionable field conditions, the league has canceled the second and third place games of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Championship on Saturday.

The final pool game on Tech's side of the bracket was suspended in the fourth inning due to rain last night and is tentatively scheduled to pick up at 2:30 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for 4 p.m. with time subject to change.

The Red Raiders are set to return to Lubbock, where they will prepare for Sunday's NCAA 2019 Selection Show. The Division I Softball Championship provides for a field of 64 teams to compete in the national tournament. Of the 64 teams, 32 teams will receive automatic qualification with the remaining best 32 teams selected on an at-large basis by the Division I Softball Committee. Sixteen teams will be seeded and each of the seeded teams will be placed at one of the regional sites.

The Selection Show will take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, on ESPN2. Information on the Red Raiders' post-season fate will be made available during the show.
