The Player's Journal: Callin' Baton Rouge

After a stressful week of finals, what better way to celebrate than hearing our name announced for the Baton Rouge Regional! We're in postseason, baby! When I saw the first tournament projection of us going to the Baton Rouge regional, I had the biggest grin on my face and I knew if I prayed hard enough God would put us right where we are supposed to be. Something that a lot of my teammates haven't experienced is a game at Tiger Park. Its fans, the amazing history and culture is just something so special and there is no group I'd rather experience this trip back to the state of Louisiana with than this group of girls! They are something special.
Knowing that we have been through the grind of one of the toughest conferences in the country, we couldn't feel any better going into postseason. Postseason play is something special and it's something that not many players get to experience when it comes to college softball. The best part of it all is that we get to go out there and just play some ball, no worries of if I need to turn a paper in by midnight, no worries of if I will have time to study for my test before we head back to Lubbock, its softball, softball, softball. All that's important now is that we go out there and do what we do best – play our game, but also smell a few roses along the way (thanks Coach Beard). This has been nothing short of an amazing year and experience here at Texas Tech, but I didn't come here to just be another team. WE didn't come here to be just another team, we came here to leave a lasting legacy. We came here to put Texas Tech on the map of NCAA softball and this is our chance to achieve what we came here to do. We are in control of our own destiny from here on out. We are exactly where we knew we could be from the first day of practice.  I couldn't have written my senior year any better than what it's turning into and to think I still have time left with that number 11 on my jersey and all of my best friends surrounding me doing the one thing we love the most.
