Peet Competing in Fort Worth Pro Tennis Classic

TCU 25k tournament also features former Red Raider Gabriela Talaba as No. 1 seed.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's tennis sophomore Olivia Peet is competing in the Fort Worth Pro Tennis Classic this week at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on the campus of TCU. The tournament is an ITF 25k event that is in its eighth-consecutive season.

Peet advanced to the main draw of the event on Monday with a win over Japan's Ayaka Okuno in which she bounced back from a 5-7 first-set loss to take the second, 6-3, and the match-deciding super tiebreaker 11-9. Tuesday she is set to face USA standout Lea Ma.

Also featured in the main singles draw is former Texas Tech star Gabriela Talaba, who enters play at the event with a No. 340 world ranking and the tournament's No. 1 seed. Talaba and Chieh-Yu Hsu are teamed up as the No. 1 seed in the doubles draw as well.

The tournament is a part of the U.S. Open preparation tour for the world of women's tennis, as players from around the world work to build their resumes for tennis' final Grand Slam of the season in Flushing Meadows, NY at the end of the month (Aug. 26 – Sept. 8). The main draw features two top-300 players in the WTA rankings.
