TPJ: Just Getting Started

Softball season is finally in full force and we're just getting started. Opening weekend always brings out all the nerves and the "firsts" for everyone and now it is time to kick it into high gear.
Last week was such a good weekend getting to see my family and finally getting to take the field as a team for the first time. Also, going 5-0 is always great, but sadly we didn't get the coaches to jump in a freezing cold swimming pool this time! Being invited to the Clearwater tournament has been a huge step for our softball program. We all want to play against the best competition in the country and play on one of the biggest stages in college softball - this tournament is exactly that! Our team has worked so hard since August and we're all hoping it pays off in Florida and that we can prove that we are one of the best teams in the country.
Another thing I am looking forward to is escaping this cold weather in Lubbock. It has been chilly and sometimes snowing over the past two weeks. I'm ready for some SUN! I love getting to play in the snow in my backyard, but it's not always the best situation when it comes to getting time to be on the field of course. Thankfully, we have prepared for this kind of adversity and we do the best we can do when it comes to the different elements outside. Florida will feel more like my home in Houston, because of the warmer temperatures and my family will be there to cheer me on.
Overall, I am over the moon excited to be playing on one of softball's biggest stages and being in tropical Florida!!
