Red Raiders Earn Nine Spots on Academic All-Big 12 Teams

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's and women's golf programs had nine student-athletes honored Monday on the Academic All-Big 12 teams, as announced by the conference office.
Tech has had at least nine representatives in each of the last three seasons.
Senior Sandy Scott and junior Kyle Hogan notched their third-consecutive appearances on the first team with Monday's nominations. Junior Andy Lopez and sophomore Markus Braadlie join them with their first respective selections.
On the women's side, Juniors Sofia Garcia and Amy Taylor earned first team honors and were joined by sophomores Anna Dong and Cecilie Nielsen, who made their career debuts. Garcia and Taylor were previously selected to the first team following the 2019 campaign.
Louisa Brunt rounded out the honorees for the Red Raiders with a second team designation, the second of her career.
Eighty-six student-athletes from around the conference were honored on the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 Golf Team.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the previous two semesters. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
