Karli Hamilton became the third Red Raider in program history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Tech senior outfielder Karli Hamilton became the third Red Raider in program history to be named an Academic All-American after she earned CoSIDA Academic All-America Third-Team honors, announced by the organization on Thursday.
Â
Hamilton joins former Red Raiders Paula Workman (1998, 1999) and Holley Gentsch (2011, 2012), who both earned the accolade twice in their careers.
Â
Additionally, Hamilton is one of three student-athletes from the Big 12 Conference named to this year's CoSIDA Academic All-America teams.
Â
A marketing major, the Texas Tech senior picked up her third – and most prestigious – academic award this year.
Â
Honored as a 2020 Senior CLASS Award candidate, Hamilton started all 26 games and led the team with 13 walks and three sacrifice bunts. She tied for second on the team with four doubles while taking third with 13 runs scored, 16 RBI and four stolen bases. She finished her 2020 campaign with a .286 batting average and a .395 on-base percentage.
Â
Despite the cancellation of spring competition during COVID-19, CoSIDA continued its sponsorship of the Academic All-America awards program. Student-athletes were selected based on career statistics.
