Red Raiders Open Blessings Collegiate Invitational Play

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas – Texas Tech sophomore Baard Skogen shot 1-under-par on Monday to lead the Red Raiders who are in fifth after the opening round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational at the Blessings Golf Club. TTU finished the first day of the tournament at 1-over (289) while Arkansas leads the 10-team field at 10-under on its home course.
Live coverage of the tournament is on the Golf Channel from 3-6 p.m. each day. The Red Raiders will begin their second round at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday between tee times from Ole Miss and Arizona on the back-9.
Skogen is currently 10th overall after posting his round of 71, while Kyle Hogan and Ludvig Aberg are just one stroke back after shooting even-par during their first round at Blessings. Aberg finished his day with a pair of birdies on No. 16 and No. 17 before a par to on 18. He had seven birdies in his round while Hogan had three birdies and 12 pars. Skogen, who is coming off a runner-up finish at the Maridoe two weeks ago, had five birdies but finished his round with four bogeys on his final five holes to drop back. Calum Scott shot a 74 and Garrett Martin 78 in their rounds for the Red Raiders.
Arkansas' Luke Long leads the tournament at 5-under followed by a group of six at 3-under. Â
Texas Tech will conclude its fall schedule next week by playing at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament from Oct. 11-13 at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas. The Red Raiders won the 2019 Big 12 Match Play Tournament. TTU's spring schedule will begin on Feb. 3 with a trip to Hawaii for the Ameri Ari Invitational.
