Ward pens five to 2023 roster on National Signing Day

LUBBOCK, Texas – Second year Texas Tech head softball Coach Sami Ward announced the addition of five signees who will join the Red Raiders for the 2023 season. Elizabeth Moffitt, Gabrielle Rawls, Madison McClarity, Diamond Sefe and Victoria Valdez signed their National Letters of Intent to play for Texas Tech on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
"I am excited about this class because we have a group of five competitive women that chose Texas Tech based on our vision, trajectory and core values," said Ward. "They are all selfless individuals that are interested in being part of the growth of our program. We are adding significant offense and defense to our lineup and these ladies will continue to make our program stronger. I can't wait to have them in Lubbock."
Four of the five signees are listed as top 50 prospects by ExtraInningSoftball. Valdez headlines the group rated as the No. 25 overall prospect for the class of 2022 followed by Rawls at 30, Moffitt at 41 and McClarity at 49.

Elizabeth Moffitt
C | 5'10" | Prosper High School | Prosper, Texas
Moffitt, a highly regarded standout, joins the Red Raiders roster from Prosper High School. She received Dallas Morning News Player of the Year, District 5-6A Catcher of the Year, TSWA 6A All-State, among many other accolades. Moffitt is the single season record holder in hits, RBI, and homeruns at Prosper where she helped lead her team to the 6A Regional Finals in 2021. A multi-sport athlete, Moffit also participates in volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton, and track. Gabrielle Rawls
OF | 5'8" | Grand Oaks High School | Spring, Texas
Rawls joins the Red Raiders from Grand Oaks High School in Spring, Texas where she was a multi-sport athlete competing in track and field in addition to a strong softball career. She was named Most Valuable Player at Grand Oaks in 2018 and received Second Team All-District and 13-6A Academic All-District honors in 2020. She posted a career batting average of .528 and committed zero fielding errors during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Rawls also found success on the track where she competed in the 100m and 200m. Madison McClarity
INF | 5'10" | Sachse HS | Garland, Texas
McClarity comes to Texas Tech from Sachse High School where she helped her team to a 23-9-1 record and a Co-District Championship, Bi-District Championship, and Area Finals in 2021. She was named Defensive Player of the Year her freshman season and District MVP and Max Prep First Team All-American her senior year. After an impressive sophomore year, McClarity completed her junior year with a .677 batting average, 12 homeruns, 78 RBI and 36 extra-base hits.INF | 5'10" | Sachse HS | Garland, Texas
Diamond Sefe
C | 5'8" | Los Alamitos HS | Carson, California
Sefe will join the Red Raiders from Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, California. In 2020 she helped her team to a number one ranking in the nation by Max Preps before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sefe was named 2019 Carson High School Softball Rookie of the Year as a freshman and collected First Team All-Marine League honors during her career. In 2020 she recorded a .517 batting average, four homeruns, and 13 RBI in 10 games. In 2021, she had four homeruns and 27 RBI. C | 5'8" | Los Alamitos HS | Carson, California
Victoria Valdez
C/INF | 5'4" | Alvin HS | Alvin, Texas
Valdez signs her national letter intent to play for Texas Tech after helping Alvin High School to a 79-13 record and three district championships over three seasons. She has been named to the All-State and All-District 6A teams while posting a .508 batting average her junior season, .547 average her sophomore season and a .365 average as a freshman. In addition to her high school successes, Valdez helped her travel ball team to a 16u PGF Championship recording a .387 average with 42 hits, 27 runs, nine doubles, three home runs and 38 RBI.
