Red Raider Facility Foundation, Inc., will oversee the development of future athletic facilities for Texas Tech Athletics
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Athletics announced Wednesday the formation of Red Raider Facilities Foundation Inc. (RRFFI), a separate 501c3 established to provide a new and innovative way to deliver first-class athletics facilities. The foundation will oversee the development of future athletics facilities beginning with the Dustin R. Womble Football Center.
The Texas Tech Board of Regents discussed in detail the establishment of the foundation at its board retreat on Oct. 15. Former Texas Tech regent Chris Huckabee will chair the RRFFI board of directors. Other board members will include Alan Hassenflu and King Scovell.
"I want to thank the members of the board for their work in helping establish this foundation," Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. "This is the result of many years of conversations about best practices and the future of facility development and innovation."
"We are extremely excited about the future of Texas Tech Athletics and our facilities," Huckabee said. "We look forward to delivering world-class facility projects in an efficient and timely manner."
The Womble Football Center was announced in October as one of the final projects of The Campaign for Fearless Champions. Fundraising for the project was kicked off by Board of Regents member Dustin R. Womble, who provided a $20 million gift for the facility, the largest one-time contribution in athletics history.
